Tallest Silver Art!

A few days ago I posted about my favorite cosplayer the one, the only, the amazing Tallest Silver! Well the mood struck me and as a warm-up I drew some Tallest fan art and I thought I'd share it :)

The small one looks a bit blurry but if you click on it, it gets all big and pretty :)

The Dragon Lives Again: The Greatest Movie Ever Made!

So the other night in my internet browsing I stumbled across a movie with a description so bizarre I had to seek it out and watch it. The Dragon Lives Again (AKA Deadly Hands of Kung Fu) is one of those movies they made in the 70's to cash in on the success of Bruce Lee's career after he passed away.

As the movie starts we witness Bruce Lee (or an actor that looks even less like Bruce Lee then Lynda Carter) waking up in Hell after dying. Makes sense right? And of course it's a "Bruce Lee" movie so he has to fight some bad guys right? OF COURSE! And just who are the bad guys "Bruce" has to fight? James Bond with a curly fro, The Godfather, The Exorcist, Emmanuelle of North Europe (yes that Emmanuelle), Dracula and an Asian Clint Eastwood in full western costume.

Phew! that's a mouth full! And if that's not enough to convince you to see this movie "Bruce" has his own posse of warriors to aid him against the forces of evil: Kain from Kung-Fu (actually played by a Chinese guy this time) and Popeye the Sailor Man.

Still not cool enough for you? Did I mention "Bruce" fights mummies and skeletons? How about gratuitous "cameos" by Toshiro Mifune and Laurel & Hardy? Well actors playing them at least...

Must see...

The King of Hell and his bailiff

The King's wives seem very interested in the arrival of "Bruce"

Ladies and gentlemen Bruce...er wait that guy doesn't look anything like Bruce Lee... Oh wait they explain that away by saying your appearance changes slightly after you die...makes sense.

Hmmmm Hell doesn't really seem so bad.

Zatoichi, Clint Eastwood and James Bond

The Clint costume is fantastic!

Emmanuelle of North Europe & The Exorcist share a laugh.

Emmanuelle & Bond...bet you never thought you'd see these two together...

Gratuitous bathing scene...hooray for gratuitous nudity!

Laurel & Hardy? More like Laurel & Hardly

Kain, "Bruce" & Popeye

Popeye had a bit of trouble against the mummies...thank Hades for spinach!

Greatest movie ever!

The Son of the Movie Quiz

Okay, it has been over a year since I've done a movie quiz and I'm not sure how many people still read this seldomly updated blog but I intend to get back to more regular updates and to bring back the quiz. Still haven't settled on a regular day for it but I'll let y'all know when I do. Until then the rules for play are below....

Becca's Rules: If you know or think you know an answer leave your guess in the comments section. As people guess I will grey it out and give them credit (using google to find the answers will disqualify you...I know all and see all...), the person who has the most correct guesses each week will get a fun movie genius award to decorate their blog. Any person who wins 5 weeks (consecutive or non-consecutive) will earn a Movie Master award and must then refrain from guessing for 5 weeks.

 1. "And then Mommy kissed Daddy, and the angel told the stork, and the stork flew down from heaven, and put the diamond in the cabbage patch, and the diamond turned into a baby!" (Caffeinated Joe)

 2. "I wasn't interested in any of her nice qualities, just her breasts."

 3. "There's a Mr. Death here, something about the reaping?" (M.D.)

 4. "Bring back some beer.... and some cleaning products."

 5. "I didn't want to do this, but I'm afraid I'm gonna have to pull rank on you. I'm with the Mattress Police. There are no tags on these mattresses." (Sterg)

 6. "World domination. The same old dream. Our asylums are full of people who think they're Naploeon. Or God." (Jaquandor)

 7. "Here I was born, and there I died."

 8. "Klytus, what play thing do you have to offer. A small body in the cascade system your majesty." (Unknown)

 9. "I have one job on this ship! It's stupid, but I'm going to do it!!" (M.D.)

 10. "You don't need diamonds in the bathroom."

OKAY! What a fantastic turn out! Gosh I didn't expect anyone to guess so thanks all you guys for joining in on the fun! Special thanks to Bill who had me cracking up with his "answers" :) But this week's winner is the AMAZING fantasy artist M.D. Thanks for playing and your award is below :)

And thanks to everyone else for playing and sticking with this blog! And come on back next Sunday for more movie quiz fun! I'll post the full list of answers in the comments section!

Tallest Silver

My gosh I love cosplay and I have tons and tons of respect for the amount of work many of these people put into making some really fantastic costumes! My absolute favorite queen of cosplay though is Tallest Silver. If you don't recognize the name then I am sure you will recognize her photo as it pops up all over the web. Her costumes are to die for but the reason I LOVE her so much is her camera work. She's always posing for photos in clever and fun ways and she really seems to get into the role she's cosplaying. Anyways if you'd like to see more of her work check out her facebook page here: Tallest Silver on Facebook

Nicol Williamson 1936- 2011

Oh my gosh I just learned that Nicol Williamson passed away in December! These cool people need to stop dying! I first saw Williamson as Merlin in Excalibur back in the 80's, he was so good he has sort of become the image that pops into my head whenever I think of any incarnation of the grand Arthurian wizard. Since then I've seen him in a number of movies, he was such a diverse and amazing actor! It's too bad he hasn't been in many movies in the last 15 or so years but at least we have flicks like Excalibur, The Seven Percent Solution and Return to Oz to watch and celebrate his career!

Here's a pencil sketch of Merlin and Morgana I did a while back...

Did you know?

In 1942 Marilyn Monroe worked in the Radio Plane Munitions factory in Burbank, CA, where she sprayed fire retardant on airplane parts and inspected parachutes to be sent to the soldiers. Two years later while at work in 1944 a photographer, David Conover, from Yank Magazine took pictures for a feature on women in the war effort. After declaring her a photographer’s dream, Conover made her the focus of the shoot, and later began using her for other modeling jobs.

I had no idea! What a great story!

Giddy up little Superman

I hate it when people put up posts like this....

Yet here I am...putting one up.

I'm sorry there has been a serious lack of posting. Since losing my job life has been chaotic, and of course other things have been popping up and I just can't seem to get my head together...but I'm gonna try. I'm gonna try to get back to that regular posting thing. Try :)
