Protecting Janesville From the Fandom Menace

The Janesville WI, police got a surprise this weekend when they responded to a report of an armed robbery at their local Ramada Inn. Apparently the suspect in question was dressed as a Stormtrooper for a Sci-fi convention that was taking place in the hotel but some of the guests, I'm sorry culturally inept morons, who saw him walking around in his costume felt he was some sort of threat, never mind the fact that the marquee outside the hotel announced the sci-fi convention.

How stupid do you have to be? I mean who sees someone in a Stormtrooper costume with a plastic gun and thinks threat? Are we so hyper-sensitive in this post 9/11 environment that every fanboy in a costume carrying a fake laser pistol is a possible threat? Fanboys bring to mind a lot of images but aggressive terrorist is not one, unless you call arguing over the last cheeto or fighting for front row seats to see the latest sci-fi flick aggressive.

In any case after laughing off the silly complaint the police warned the Stormtrooper to not carry the gun around outside of the convention. Makes you feel a little safer in the world doesn't it?

Well, obviously, unless you WANT the Galactic Empire to take control. Gaw!
