Wizarding Words Day 4

Obliviate- Used to make someone forget something. Oblivio is Latin for "forgetfulness."

Peskipiksi Pesternomi- Lockhart tried this incantation unsuccessfully. It can be read as "Pesky pixie, pester no(t) me."

Pigwidgeon- Pigwidgin is a rare old word for a tiny fairy or dwarf.

Harry Potter- Just an ordinary name, but JKR selected Potter because, when she was young, she made friends with a brother and sister named Ian and Vicki Potter.

Rictusempra- Rictus is Latin for "open mouth," and means a gaping, mirthless grin in English. It is often used to describe a smile that is forced by illness or frozen in death. Semper is Latin for "forever."
