Excellent indeed.

Alex Raymond is way, way up on my hero list, and this doesn't hurt that reputation a bit!

Neil-
Alex Raymond is the man! I wish I could draw half as well as he could. So cool!

Raymond's work was amazing. Two others come to mind: Hal Foster (Prince Valiant) and Milton Caniff (Steve Canyon). Sunday comics were works of art.

Oh - let me add Lee Falk (The Phantom). Without him, we might not have Skull Caves with smoking bans.

Oh yes! Hal Foster! and Milt Caniff! and Lee Falk! Include Byrne Hogarth and it's like the super group of comic artitsts! Wouldn't you love to have seen a project they collaborated on? Of course maybe that's too many egos in the room.

By the way high five for getting The Phantom reference! It always tickles me when someone catches that!

Allow me to concur ecstatically in regard to Hal Foster and Lee Falk. Milton Caniff have to fall, for me, into that category of people I respect and appreciate as an innovator and influence... and, yes, the art is terrific, but somehow I can't ever really get into reading the strip itself.

We just got a collection of Steve Canyon at work and I've been thinking about reading it. I've not read more then a few stray strips here and there but I do love the art. Guess I'll see what I think.

Prince Valiant is so addictive what a great series!
