Leela and Amy and Bender ;)And a quick self portrait of me and my bunny Thumper.

I dig them both, Becca, but I think the Futurama-based one is crazy cute! You'll like two particular screen shots (now in glorious 640x480!) I made for the video stills area of my web site. They're both from the episode "Jurassic Bark", with which you are probably already familiar, if only for these fantastic scenes:yumyum
Wow Becca!Ok, first up, the Futurama pic. It's good, but Bender is distracting me, otherwise I'd say it's great. Leela is one of the hardest women to draw, due to her being a cyclops, and very few fan arts of her look good, yours definitely is good.Next, the self portrait, aww, the bunny is giving you the sad, puppy eyes, and I love the capri pants look with your sexy girl drawing shirt. The ankle socks with the Chuck Taylors, I think, combined with the streaked hair and the pencil, you rock the geek chic look.
There's something about Leela's eye there that really bothers me, but I can't for the life of me figure out why. Everything else about the picture is great...and when I can get around to looking in his direction, Bender looks spot on to me. The self portrait one is super ultra terrific. If you were ever to attempt an autobiographical comic strip, you've got a winning character design right there.
I too feel the need to compliment your two sketches... they are very groovy indeed, and I thought the pinup girl sketch on your self-portrait's shirt was a brilliant touch.
I second the autobiographical comic strip comment. Your drawings are awesome!
Tim-Thank you! I always hated Jurassic Bark cause I felt so damn bad for Fry's poor dog Seymour who sits outside Panucci's Pizza waiting and waiting for Fry to return...but the Benders Big Score movie finally made me feel so much better. At least Seymour wasn't really without Fry all those years! I'm just a softie I guess.Great screen grabs by the way ;)Anon-Yeah Bender was a bit of an afterthought...something told me he needed to be there poking his head in. Take it off is something I actually yell out quite a bit myself so maybe that Bender is really me in disguise ;)And that's pretty much me in a nutshell, capris, Chucks, streaked hair and geeky glasses. http://bp1.blogger.com/_FR87g-YIx2s/SGl-OQIFuPI/AAAAAAAAEgc/bDR4XIFo8Dc/s1600-h/Wizard+World+2008+007.jpgNot the best picture but you get the idea :)RAB-Maybe it's a bit flat...the eye that is...hmm not sure I actually kind of liked the way it looked. You know you are like the third or fourth person to tell me that. I'm working on starting a series but maybe I should refocus... and try to make a couple of autobiographical ones. see how they turn out.MC-THanks! Nothing says Becca like Pin-up so it seemed like a good fit :)MBFGA-Awww thank you! Yeah I think I'll have to see if I can do that autobiographical thing...see what pops out of my head :)
I think what was bothering me was that, if anything, you drew a better eye for Leela than the "real" Leela has! Yours looks more like an eye, where the original Leela has a more blobby shape with a dot in it for the pupil. And I've probably thought about this way too much...
Hey Rebecca - my name is Rebecca, and I just wanted to let you know that I linked to your blog from the Old Nick Magazine Blog that I run (http://oldnickmagazine.blogspot.com).I love your artwork - I think you are super talented. Anyway, just wanted to let you know about the link, and say hello.XOXO-R
Woops! I forgot how sad the ending of "Jurassic Bark" is. Sorry to bring that up. A softie, too, I've actually wept during that final scene. But you're right, it's a really good thing "Bender's Big Score" rewrote that part of the time line. Glad you liked the screen grabs!
Thumper's adorable. Love the thought bubble. And of course you're pretty cute, too! :)
