Devil Doll

So right now drawing is the only thing keeping me sane. After what's been a rough couple of years struggling to keep my head above water financially I just found out that I'm about to be layed off from the job I've had for almost 11 years. I'm kind of devastated but doing the best I can to try and make the best of a crappy, crappy situation. If only I could make enough off the drawing gig to support myself :) Ahh maybe someday...but for now enjoy this drawing I did today :)

So how was your day?

Damn - I saw the title in my reader and immediately thought of Radiskull & Devil Doll. A blast from the past!

Also, I'm sorry to hear about the crappy situation you're in. Getting laid off sucks.

Agh, I am most sorry! It is very chaotic and terrifying to be laid off; when it happened to me I didn't know what to do and spent a lot of time panicking. That first week, though, I made a point to do Nothing, Zero, Zip, Nada, and enjoyed my severance and th' first real vacation I'd had in years. It helped me to face th' job hunt with a far calmer mindset.
I have my AMAZING pinup art displayed proudly in my apartment and will continue to point all guests who admire it to NSITSC so they can all buys tons more art and help support ya!

So your Borders is closing then. Bummer. Good luck finding something else soon.

Becca, I am so sorry to hear that. I've been there, I know the stresses and the anger. Catastrophoea is right about the unexpected benefits in the week following. Once the initial shock and anger clears you might find yourself feeling more clearheaded than you have in a long while.

Keep drawing (like you could stop yourself, I know) and keep believing in yourself. You WILL survive and you'll be okay.

Sorry to hear you lost your job, Becca. I've only just started a new part-time after being out of work for about 20 months.

I'll say a prayer for you to find some new work.

GTV-
Holy cow I haven't seen that in ages! How funny! I wonder if that's where the name Devil Doll popped forth from my brain.

Thanks for the well wishes! I'm sure it will all work out eventually, it's just getting to that eventually that seems pretty darn complicated :)

Cat-
Thanks for that. I think your right I just need to finish my time before I get laid off, take a deep breath then restart. Thanks for the support :)

Dr. Monkey-
Thanks! Now I just need to find someone who'll hire a gal with oh my god I just realized I've worked in the retail book trade for almost 20 years. Fuck I feel old.

M.D.
Gosh thank you! That is really nice of you to say. I just need to get it through my thick skull that I'm going to be okay. I'll be okay :) Thanks for the kind thoughts!

Vicar-
Thank you I need all the good vibes I can get!

I'm really sorry about that Becca. Time for you two to move to North Dakota where there are literally gobs of service jobs needed to keep up with the oil boom. Jobs like Taco John's and McDonald's are currently advertising $15/hr. You and Aaron are qualified for better jobs of course and they need those too. It sounds crazy but there is a job pick of the litter here.

I hope you can find other work soon! Looking for jobs sucks even more than working them. I'm currently a part-time cashier at Walmart, and looking for something else, but I sometimes get the impression I'm unemployable. Fortunately, my wife has a secure job, but I think we'd both feel better if I were able to contribute something.

I don't have any interest in moving to North Dakota, but I wouldn't mind having Daskaea as a neighbor. Then again, a "neighbor" in that part of the country means living ten miles down the road, right? :P
