If you really want to get me something for Christmas...

Being the insanely huge Labyrinth fan that I am I got way too excited when I saw this picture for the new Jareth The Goblin King action figure (David Bowie as Jareth was my first childhood crush and probably the reason why I was only attracted to guys who wore makeup until I was 20).

Is this not the coolest thing ever! I'm not sure when it will be released or where I'll be able to buy it but I must have this.

And because I'm such a fan-girl here is my favorite scene from the movie:

Sigh...he's so dreamy.

I love that movie! My favorite scene was the in the end, the M. C. Escher-esque staircase scene. The best song was from the ending credits though, "Underground." Perhaps Jennifer Connelly's best film. This is the only film that I can think of, aside from "Dark Water," where she actually played the lead.

Dr. Zaius, you've forgotten "Seven Minutes in Heaven"! Of course, history has, so...

Ah, Jennifer. I'll never forget how you adorned the inside of my fifth grade locker with, yes, pictures torn out of Muppet Magazine. How I pined for you then...

Jennifer Connelly is so beautiful it makes my eyes bleed. I'm glad to see her in more films lately. She sort of disappeared for a bit there. Of course her best role is in "Labyrinth" but verily I also enjoyed her performance in "Once Upon A Time in America", which is one of my favorite films.

"Seven Minutes in Heaven?" Shoot, I haven't seen that one. it get's a 5.8 on the imdb Walk of Shame, which is meaningless. I guess that it is one of the few teen movies that is not played endlessly on HBO/SHO/TMC/etc., otherwise I would have seen it.

imdb user comment: "So cute I wanna hug - The film is definitely a milder, cuter and softer version of the Pretty in Pink's and Some Kind of Wonderful's of the 1980's, which is exactly why it is so good."

My schoolboy crush on Jennifer was definately renewed by her role in "Dark Water." She had that whole Soccer MILF thing going for her. Actually, that's not it. Her role in that film was very gritty and surrealistic. I really liked that film. (5.6 on the imdb Walk of Shame.) I saw the original, "Honogurai mizu no soko kara," and it was a better movie. But it did lack one thing, it didn't have Jennifer Connelly in it!

Dr. Zaius-
I almost posted the Escher scene the effects in that scene astound me to this day. I haven't seen Dark Water yet but figure I will at some point. Poor Jennifer Connelly she's been in so many bad movies, but since we are talking about her good ones, I love The Rocketeer (even though her part is smaller) and Phenomiena the Dario Argento flick. She talks to bugs, quite cool.

Allen-
Once again thanks for the tracks, I'll have to see if I can check out more of their stuff.

Scurvy-
Man, I haven't seen Once Upon a Time in America either! I'll get there though.

Samuraifrog-
They were still making Muppet Magazine when Labyrinth came out? I had no idea it lasted so long.

I loved "the Rocketeer," but mostly for the airplanes (AutoGyro, Gee Bee Racer, Jet Pack, Zeppelin) and the campy "movie serial" weirdness. I thought it was a good script, very over the top.

Jennifer Connelly was unfortunately reduced to the role of a helpless female in the film. She was good in the role though.

Who I thought was great in that movie was Timothy Dalton as Neville Sinclair. He was also good as James Bond in two movies in my opinion. Most people did not like him as Bond.

I looked up the imdb plot outline for Phenomena: "A young girl, with an amazing ability to communicate with insects, is transferred to an exclusive Swiss boarding school, where her unusual capability might help solve a string of murders."

A movie with Jennifer Connelly talking to bugs? That sounds like my kind of movie!

Don't even get me strated talking about Timothy Dalton, I love the man despite his mainly crappy movie career. He's actually my favorite Bond.
