Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas
A Jim Henson classic. Gotta love the Riverbottom Gang. They were so stoned. Watched it every year on TV with religious fervor when I was a wee lad.
I love this special. I saw it when it was first broadcast (on HBO, I think).
I own it on DVD as well -- just watched it last week with the kids.
I agree that the Riverbottom Gang is awesome, but my favorite quote is:
"We're not birds! We're a jug band!"
I agree.."look at the birds, up in the trees" hahahaha
I always found this one a little precious, but by damn the songs were catchy.

Yes! Emmet Otter is correct! And it really is a great special...I don't think Jim Henson ever did anything I've disliked.

Did you know this was originally from 1977? I certainly didn't. Caught it on HBO like you and figured it was from the 80's. And that is a great quote.
I haven't watched this yet this year I'll have to dig it out.
